I'm finding the use of rooflights in notional buildings a bit mysterious. Has anyone pinned down hard and fast rules for this?
The NCM Modelling Guide (page 9) says that this is entirely dependent on the space's activity and that the NCM Activity Database shows whether each activity type would be no-lit, side-lit or roof-lit. I've not found the relevant field in the Activity Database and I've found the use of rooflights varying with roof construction (is there a maximum depth - e.g. if you've got a big ceiling void?).
Any thoughts gratefully received.

Re: Notional Building Rooflights
Hi,
I don't have a full list but roof-lit, side-lit and no-lit is based on room activity only and I don't think roof area or anything else plays a part in this. If you have access to the activities database there should be a field to represent this status.
Para 25 in Modelling Guide covers this:

Para 25 in Modelling Guide covers this:
Phil25 In the Notional building the activity assigned to each zone determines whether the zone will have windows, rooflights, or no glazing at all, regardless of the type of glazing applied to the equivalent zone in the Actual building. The glazing class assigned to each NCM activity is determined in the “Activity†table from the NCM activity database in the “Driver2A†field (i.e. 0 for no-lit activity, 1 for side-lit activity, and 2 for roof-lit activity).
