I am trying to figure out how to simulate the solar irradiation on a surface.
There is an existing solar thermal array on the roof of a low rise building. We are building a new high rise building adjacent which will cast significant shadow over it.
I simply need to be able to say "prior to the new construction, the array received xx W/sqm or solar irradiation but now it receives yy W/sqm".
I don't need to do a full system analysis of the actual solar thermal system, but if I need to do it via APACHE HVAC or similar, then I will do that. I Just need a pointer in the right direction.
Many thanks in advance,
Matt

Hey
if you run Suncast, then after the calculation is done you can see the amount of solar radiation on the given plane. I am not sure if this is an average or what, but you should look in Suncast to be able to determine the amount of sun on the plane.
