PRM Navigator - Problem importing ASHRAE data

Post by luanaepb »

Hi,

Currently, I'm using the PRM navigator and I'm having a problem when importing the ASHRAE construction data.

In "Envelope Thermo-Physical properties" I select "ASHRAE Baseline Constructions, I select all the parameters ant at the end, there is the following message:

"Construction import error: Failed to import the following baseline constructions to the project: vertical glazing"

So, the glazing at the baseline model are not been assigned a construction. So, I'm also having problems in simulating the baseline model

Do you know how could I solve this problem?

Thank you.

Hi,

I've not heard of this error message before.

First thing to check is the quality of your model geometry - do this in ModelIT, select the Settings menu >> Model. Tick Intersection, Zones and Surfaces then click the Check button. This will alert you to any intersections, non-planar surfaces etc that may be causing problems in your model.

Next it may be one of the options you selected on the Baseline Construction Type Selector dialog. I tried some different options but had no problems. Try changing these and if you find it is a particular configuration of Constructions let me know so I can try this here.

Finally it may be that the Construction was still imported to the project but not assigned. open the Constructions Database (do this from one of the Thermal/Energy VE Applications or using the Custom Construction type action in the PRM Nav under Envelope Thermo-physical properties >> Proposed building constructions >> Custom Construction type). If it has actually been imported then you can assign this to the building manually and even if it is not imported you still have the option to manually define the required Construction and assign it, this isn't ideal but if you are under pressure then this should let you continue with the sim.

Let me know if none of these ideas work but even if you do find a way past this let us know for future reference and also what the problem was so I can look for ways to improve VE.

Hi Phil,

I've followed all the steps you've suggested but none of them worked.

I've checked the model and there were no alerts.

Then, I tried all the different types of glazing and I it continued to show the same message. "Construction import error: Failed to import the following baseline constructions to the project: vertical glazing".

So, I thought of trying your last suggestion. The problem is that the construction was not imported, as it says the message above and this is exactly the problem because when I try to assign another construction in "assign construction" => "external glazing" the window doesn't get red, so I can replace that.

So, do you have any other idea?

Thank you for your help!

ah ok, think I see the problem - the Construction is imported and "assigned" to the model but the reference to it is broken somewhere so the VE probably sees this as being unassigned and as such you can't replace it with another Construction.

I'll send you a private message to get the project from you and we can see if one of the Tech Support experts here can fix it.
