Post by pascali »

Could some one kindly tell me if I can save projects created on IES VE 6.4.0.7 as IES VE 6.4.0.3 please.
The latest one opens up the old one but older virsons don't open up the latest version ! Can I actually save it as Earlier version?

Hi,
IES<VE> 6.4.0.7 is higher version of IES<VE> 6.4.0.3 , you can't have both these versions on your machine running.

You can do it with some workaround.
1) You can export the geometry using GEM file.
Use 'ModelIT >> Export GEM File>> to create GEM file
Use 'ModelIT >> Import GEM File' to import GEM file

2) To Import templates you have created , you can use the .mtd file of the project from which you want to use the templates or profiles.

There is one more option you can use (This is mainly related with VE-Compliance module)

1) Open your model in 6.4.0.7
2) Switch to VE-Compliance module.
3) Use 'Building Compliance >> Export as v6.1.1 for EPC' action.
This will create a CAB file which you can open in <VE>6.1.1 or upper versions.

I hope this has been of some help. ;)
Thanks & Regards ,

Thanks for the suggestion Vajindar.
I guess there are no straight forward option like in Microsoft word or excell i.e Create file on IES<VE> 6.4.0.7 and when you go to save , save as IES<VE> 6.4.0.3 or for the whole project so that different machine with IES<VE> 6.4.0.3 can open this file.

Hi,

There's no "Save as Version" option in VE I'm afraid. Vajindar suggested one or two options if you need to get a project back to an earlier version.

I'd add that whenever you upgrade a project an automatic backup is created - see the CABs in the project Backups folder. The backup is the project before it was upgraded so you can open this in the earlier version of VE (whatever version it was last opened in).
