Hi,
I am doing a preliminary thermal analysis of an office tower renovation, mainly focused on the benefits of its original façade. The building envelope and zone thermal properties are set in the model with room conditions to be within 20 and 24 °C , however the HVAC system is not yet modeled in ApacheHVAC as HVAC design is not yet completed, HVAC was set based on NCM standards instead.
After running the Apache Sim, I am interested in looking at zone operating air temperatures to evaluate thermal comfort within the office zones considering the HVAC system is turned ON.
I have selected the office zones at Vista and plotted the Air & radiant temperatures multiple selection option and the result is not as expected as the air temperatures are not kept within 20 and 24°C. It appears the HVAC system is OFF even though at room conditions the office zones are set to function according to occupancy. Then I start questioning if the cooling sensible load output data refers to room air temperatures within 20 and 24 °C or the air temperatures as plotted (which varies from 15 to 31°C).
How would be the best way to tackle this issue with IES-VE?

Re: HVAC operating air temperature
Hi,
From what I gather you haven't used detailed ApacheHVAC yet to model the HVAC system so you must be using a simpler apache system.
Sounds like the model is not quite set up how you would like, review your apache systems to ensure you have a system with heating and air conditioning defined. Then check the rooms in the model to ensure if you have defined data in a thermal template that this is assigned to the room, Set Points are set on the Room Conditions tab for each room.
I think if you have a look through the user guides you will get a better feel for VE-Pro as I believe you are a new user. Perhaps the Navigators would also help you with model setup the first few times?
