Hello.
I would like to make an atrium in my model be making a hole between two rooms that are on top of each other. I can't to this by using the "add hole"-function, since it only works on exterior surfaces. Can you help me?
Regards, Mette
How to make a hole between two room on top of each other?
Re: How to make a hole between two room on top of each other?
Hello Mette
It should also work on enterior faces, because i have used it for the atrium i have made. Have you made sure to go down to the lowest level to do it?

I think KasperS has the right idea here, there are two ways to add a hole
Method 1
At top (model) level of decomposition when click the add openings buttons we get the opening library that you can place on external surfaces. This method can be useful and faster in some cases.
Method 2
Select room, go down the levels of decomposition (down arrow on toolbar above the workspace) until have selected the surface you want to place the opening in and then you will find you can now accurately place openings (dropdown allows to choose between Rectangular, Polygonal or 100%). This method will be described in more detail in the user guide and will let you do what you want to do here.

Re: How to make a hole between two room on top of each other?
Along the same lines as the previous poster.. I am trying to create a polygonal opening between two adjacent spaces. I have created the correct opening on one of the surfaces of one space, but how do I get this opening to show up on the adjacent surface of the other space? Does VE not know how to do that? is there a way to copy the opening/polygon over to the other surface? Do I need to measure the coordinates of the first opening exactly and then just recreate the hole in the second space?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

if the surfaces are located right next to eachohter, like 2 rooms sharing the same wall, it should be there already. If it is not, then you probably have some spaces between the 2 rooms, which you should eliminate.
Re: How to make a hole between two room on top of each other?
yes this sounds a lot like there is space between the two rooms or worse case unmatched adjacencies. First thing to do is rebuild the adjacencies (select the rooms then type "rebuild" into the key-in at top left of the workspace and hit enter.
Check the adjacency in the rooms browser (expand the tree for the room you are looking at) and check that it shows as a blue icon (internal) rather than yellow (external).
