Hey

Use the partition thingie - just partiition up like you would normally partition a zone but pay attention to the perimeter areas... make the split at 6m.

Hello Zap,

Thank you for your reply. If possible can you let me know where I can find the Partition thingie in IES version 6.0?
To be honest i didn’t come across about partition a zone so does it possible for you to let me know little bit in-detail information about how to make the split at 6m.

Your reply would be appreciated

Cheers

Hi,

It does sound like the Partition tool in ModelIt would let you do this easily.

Select a room in plan view then you should see some buttons on the edit toolbar (including the Partition tool). See section 4.13 of the ModelIT User Guide for an image of the button. The you can divide the room into sub-rooms or generate new separate rooms.

Remember to select the "Divide without partitions" option so the light can pass through and there are no physical walls to impact heat transfer etc.

Hi all,

I have a question about this procedure: I was trying to subdivide the zone I was analyzed in order to have two DL statistics within one zone (by subdivided the zone)

Unfortunately when I do this by dividing without partitions and generated subspaces I can not get statistics of DL for each sub-spaces. Only the "big zone" statistics appear.

On the contrary when I created "new separate zones" and "divide without partitions" The light didn't pass throuh the wall and the DL in the inner zone is zero.

Can I get statistics on DL (DL average) for a subdivided space in a zone?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Hi David,

You just need t choose the "Generate new separate zones" option and "Divide without partitions". This splits the room into 2 distinct spaces with a partition between that is 100% hole.

Then when you run your lighting analysis you just need to choose an appropriate quality level in the calc settings so that light is allowed through internal openings (FlucsDL this is the medium quality setting minimum) and you'll see the result you want
