Generating Reports

Post by aas333 »

I am simulating a very large building (~1600 rooms, and 7 systems) on AP Sim. After the dynamic simulation is done the report will begin to generate. This is a very slow process. If i click anywhere on the screen the program will freeze and windows opens a dialog prompting me to quit. I have left my computer to run overnight twice, the first time the program froze, the second time I received an error stating there was not enough virtual memory to run the program.

I have also tried to split up the building by system type (making 7 different asp files) and simming each one, then investigating the results to try to come up with a building energy load, however, one or two of these single system asp files are still too big and will not generate. I am also concerned about this process as I know I cannot submit my results for LEED accreditation this way.

Is there any way to allocate more than 2GB of memory to IES for report generating or system simulation? Or is there any possibility of sending my model to IES to run for me?

Thank you,
Anthony

Hi,

Which report is it you are trying to generate?

I've been able to generate full detailed reports from Vista for similar sized models in the past. Generally the reports require up to an hour to process.

It might be useful to know a little bit about your computer, particularly whether your OS is 32bit or 64bit. For comparison, my vital statistics are as follows:

Windows 7 64Bit (This might be allowing the OS to assign more than 2GB of memory)
256GB SSD HDD (this speeds up any Vista process hugely)
32GB RAM
Core i7-4800MQ @ 2.7GHz

with large projects simulation and report generation time is quite high with IES...i usually have to leave it alone to generate the report (it could take an hour+)...specially for large projects
