A few users will be aware that CIBSE have released updated TRY (Test Reference Year) and DSY (Design Summer Year) Data Sets for 2016.
More information on these files can be found in this CIBSE FAQ here: http://www.cibse.org/getmedia/4b02ce84- ... a-FAQs.pdf
And also on their weather file page here: http://www.cibse.org/weatherdata
Although IES act as an agent for CIBSE and sell the 2006 CIBSE Data Sets*, used for UK Building Regulations and EPC calculations, we are not currently selling these new data sets.
You can however purchase them direct from CIBSE as the VE can read .epw format weather data, which is one of the formats available. Just place the .epw file in the Shared Content\Weather folder of your installation and the .epw will be picked up by the VE.
*Although the CIBSE FAQ says that these new TRY files replace the old ones, IES believes this does not apply for Part L - England or Wales, Section 6 - Scotland or Part F - Northern Ireland. For these, the 2006 TRY files should be used. This is stated in the NCM modelling Guide for your region

Re: CIBSE Weather Data Sets 2016
Thanks Terence, I was just groaning at the thought of having to pay out to buy these new files but knowing that they're not needed for Part L / EPC has made me thing I'll continue without them for a little while yet.
Thanks,
John

Re: CIBSE Weather Data Sets 2016
That makes sense. If we had to start suddenly applying new weather data to our NCM models it would mess up all previous models currently at design stage. A rare display of sense from the BRE, bravo. CIBSE must be so disappointed
Re: CIBSE Weather Data Sets 2016
More to come on this I think, I will post when I know more!
Decision on their use for UK Regs & EPC's will be down to DCLG.

Re: CIBSE Weather Data Sets 2016
Just an update that we are in the middle of working through this with CIBSE and we hope to have a dedicated page where users can purchase these files live on our website soon. The prices for each file (or sets) will be the same as buying direct from CIBSE with the same member discounts being offered (CIBSE membership number must be provided).
