Trim Function in Connect Spaces

Post by JohnLloyd »

Can anyone explain to me the purpose of the new 'Trim' function found in Connect Spaces?

I assumed it would be something that would allow intersections to be easily 'trimmed' but I can't seem to get it to do anything useful.

While we're at it, I've never really understood the use of the 'Subtract' option either! What's it for?!

Hi John,

The function of “merge” and “subtract” is to be able to create complex zones (note that this is different from “connect”, in that you cannot break the zone back into its original state) – the limitation of both these is that the geometry must be “bounded”, i.e. must touch at surfaces – the “trim” option will cut an object to the boundary of another to allow the “subtract” (or “merge”) to be performed.

I hope this helps.
