Seems to be related to using the "Edit system parameters" button. ApacheHVAC will create duplicates of the currently opened ASP file and append another .asp extension.
For example when working on an ASP file named "proposed.asp" the VE will create additional ones named:
proposed.asp.asp
proposed.asp.asp.asp
