How can I model the openings and walls of an atrium?

Post by nk351 »

Hi

How can I characterise an atrium for IES? I mean for example in the "Macroflo openings database manager", which exposure type I should select for the atrium openings or how I can define atria walls for IES. Hop can I define the atria wall to IES, as a surface which is not in the exposure of solar insolation and wind?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello

Well if it is like a wall below and then it is open out to the atrium i would just model it as a normale hole, because that is what it is. Also you should make sure that at least each floor in the atrium is its own "room", to make sure that the temperaturedifference up through the atrium is correct, else it will just have the same temperature as in the middle of the room in the middel of the height of the building. You can connect these rooms with holes too.
