Hi ya,
Can i know how to get rid of error log file showing Shading file incomplete.
With out shading file it doesn’t let me to perform Part L calcs and i tried all different way.
Could some one let me know where I can find the shading file and how to cross over this issue?
Thanks in advance
Cheers

Shading file is incompelte.
Re: Shading file is incompelte.
Did you run SunCast?
Re: Shading file is incompelte.
JosephG,
Further to my initial query regarding shading file is incompelte I re-run the Suncast (solar shading )calcs for my project. Still it does showed more than 200 errors saying Shading factor zero.
Cheers

Re: Shading file is incompelte.
Hi,
Sorry if I'm going down the wrong route here but I think this error may be from a VE-SBEM calculation?
If so then it may be due to External Shading devices that are set up for the External Glazing. Check the Apache Constructions Database and review the External Glazing Constructions used in the model. If they have External Shading Devices (Shutters or Louvres) defined here then you will need to make sure that Sky diffuse Transmission Factor is not "Calculated" (i.e. make sure the box for calculate is unticked and then enter a value between 0 and 1 for this value).
If you do this for all External Windows then the calc should run without errors. Let us know how you get on with that please.

Re: Shading file is incompelte.
Hi Phil,
Like you suspected it’s the problem with External shading devices factot value in VE-SBEM .Based on your reply i get rid of shading file in complete issue . Now I am performing SBEM calcs and end up with 2944 warnings saying some thing like
* [144914] ** WARN 2936 **: (Other warnings):LIGHT-ACT-WATT= 42.406
* [144945] ** WARN 2937 ** : (Other warnings): AREA = 0.082
* [144953] ** WARN 2938 ** : (Other warnings): AREA = 0.012
* [145009] ** WARN 2939 ** : (Other warnings): AREA = 0.044
* [145071] ** WARN 2940 ** : (Other warnings): LIGHT-ACT-WATT = 45.028

*** ERRORS *** Number of errors: 0
*** WARNINGS *** Number of warnings: 2944
*** CWARNINGS *** Number of cwarnings: 0
END
Presumably the warnings come up due to lighting but I am not sure.Apparently im still investigating to cross over these 2499 warnings . I am playing with different ligihting levels for each area in each room (over 150 lux) and see how iot works.Mean while if you have any idea can you drop a reply about the warnings and i hope i will finish SBEM calcs for my project with out any more issues.
Once again thank you for your efforts
Cheers

Re: Shading file is incomplete.
Hi,
Glad you got past the shading error that was preventing the calcs from running.
The SBEM log file shows Errors and Warnings. You can't ruin the simulation without correcting any errors but the warnings are just for your information in case there have been errors when entering any values.
I don't know much about the individual errors that are listed but generally they will flag up any values that are unexpected (i.e. outwith an expected range). This is produced by SBEM so maybe BRE could comment further on any individual warnings that you are particularly worried about.
It would be nice if the warnings could give some indication of the associated rooms or systems etc but sadly we have no control over this.
