Rated x design condition

Post by luanaepb »

Hi,

I have another question related to this matter.

I've read the ApHVAC guide (more specifically at page 116) about design and rated condition, where there's the following text:

"A user wishing to use catalogue chiller data enters a capacity and COP at the rated condition and reads off
the derived capacity and COP at the design condition."

For example, in my case, I've read in the manufacters data the capacity (400 TR) and COP for 7C (supply temperature), 29,44C (entering temperature) and 2,4 gpm/ton (chilled water) and 3,0 gpm (condenser water).

My design conditions are the same as rated conditions except for the supply temperature (11C).

Then, when I read the derived data in the design condition tab, there's a change in chiller's capacity, for more than 400 TR. Is this right? Knowing that the COP also changes, instead of keeping the capacity, the parameter which is kept is compressor consuptiom?

Thanks a lot!

Luana
