I’m having a serious problem with Macroflo. When I’m in the openings database manager and I have filled in all the appropriate details for my new opening type I save the opening type and I get notification of a successful save. But then when I go back in or try applying the opening type the new window is gone. It is obviously not saving.
Any ideas how to fix this problem? Need help soon the project deadline is coming up. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Macroflo Opening tyes will not save. Please Help!!

Re: Macroflo Opening tyes will not save. Please Help!!
Hi,
I am not facing the same problem. I have created few different types of openings in ModelIT then moved to MacroFlo & created different opening types using "MacroFlo Opening Types" form. (I have successfully saved it.)
Then I have opened "Assign Opening type" form to apply the opening types. I can see my all Opening types in "Possible replacement opening types" list.
May be this problem occurs randomly.
If you could provide me more detailed steps I would try those & If confirmed I will pass it to our developement team.
Which IES<VE> version you are using?
Does this problem occurs everytime?
Detailed steps to produce this problem.
If you have any further queries then please don’t hesitate to contact us here.

Hi,
Has the original query above been solved? I'm currently having exactly the same problem and would hugely appreciate any advice anyone could provide as to solving it?
Thanks, James

we can't pass something to the development team until we can see it happening and reproduce I'm afraid. I've never heard of this outside this post. Can you give some more detail on what you are doing and what goes wrong so we can look into it further please.

This problem is usually because your model file name \ location is too long. e.g:
C:\Projects\91162 Talybont Gate Student Accom\IES\........\111222 - Talybont Gate - Part L & EPC\111222 - Talybont Gate - Part L & EPC.mit
If you re-save the model to a much location with a shorter path you should find that MacroFlo will start behaving normally again.

Thanks for your assistance, I didn't think to try a big long path but when I did it failed to save
(have to stop smiling when I find limitations of software, typical tester mentality!).
ok, logged with the development team who will fix it for a future version and workaround is erm save a shorter path/filename for now I guess (not the best really).
This is a good example of when you see something going wrong, raising it with us is fine but we then need to find a way to reproduce - in this case it was a good spot that it was the path length, I wouldn't have though of that myself really.
Keep up the good work folks!

Hi Phil,
Just came across this post during my search (for the same problem), so I can confirm this issue still exists in the latest version of the software, V6.5.
Might be a good idea to look into this, as I would never have guessed the source of the problem would be the path file name.
P.S Great forum, the answers have helped me out of many sticky situations!!!!

yay the forum works (Knowledge Base is good for these kinds of things as well). The issue is logged with our development team, IES reference (this is the ID that will show up on the Release Notes when it is fixed) is 0052134.
It's targeted to be fixed for the next big release this year, VE 2013.

Re: Macroflo Opening tyes will not save. Please Help!!
Hi everyone,
I just tried this short file path theory, but macroflow doesn't seem to be working yet. I am trying to simulate a naturally ventilated building. But the simulation results show that Natural Ventilation, Macroflow Internal Ventilation all are zero. When I look into surface level and select a typical window, Volume flow in and out are also zero.
Any suggestion is most welcome!
