differnce btw Radiance WP view and working plane

Post by normwheatley »

Hi,

I have a simple model and I want to get an image of the daylight factors on the working plane. Radiance has two selections, one called the illuminance working plane and another called the illuminance WP view.

These two selections give different results .... which is the correct one please?

thanks

Hi Norm,
Apologies for the delay in responding here - I've personally not been on the forums for quite a while and until I refreshed the format this weekend finding unanswered posts wasn't that easy. Anyway, enough of that back to the question about working plane images. Here's a summary that should clear this up for you.

Illuminance -WP
This generates an image of given size for a single zone (using Bounding Box).

Illuminance -WP data
This generates data for a 0.5m grid across Bounding box for selcted zone.

Illuminance - WP view
This generates an image using the defined view parameters (i.e. not keyed to a specific zone).

Hope that helps,
David.

Hi David,

Referring to your previous advice, how about as following situation:

I'm current doing a illuminance studies in finding out the deference of a room with furniture and w/o furniture. As such, i'm using illuminance. The results generated with furniture is higher then w/o furniture. I believe it could be wrong selection of illuminance.

1) Which illuminance should i use?
2) How to ensure that the simulation is simulated base on the same height?
3) If table height is 750mm, how to make the same height setting on the simulation w/o furniture?

Appreciate if you could revert ASAP.

Thank you.

Hi,

We have a Knowledge Base article that provides some further guidance on this.
