User defined Fuels for SBEM?
User defined Fuels for SBEM?
Can we define fuels for SBEM compliance purposee. We would like to do this because the project uses CHP, Biomass and Gas and these could be combined into one fuel.
Re: User defined Fuels for SBEM?
The NCM doesn't allow that so none of the approved softwares should be giving an option to do that either.
The only option you have to modify a Fuel Factor would be if the Heat Source/fuel was District Heating as it is configured to allow you to enter a District Heating CO2 emission factor directly. Else you could combine as a Bivalent fuel (you'd still be looking to fudge efficiencies to represent the CHP part) or just modify efficiency of a single system to represent the different components.
My general response (unless any other forum users want to chip in some experiences here) is to contact your accreditation scheme or BRE to get some official guidance as IES can't really comment here as we're simply the software vendor.
A good starting point would be the BRE FAQs page, I often find this guidance very useful and it comes from a pretty trustworthy source

They have one called "The fuel type used in the building is not listed in SBEM?" which I think helps here
