External Convection Model (ASHRAE Simple)

Post by kumudini1 »

Hi,

What is the calculation method used in the simulation option, External Convection Model: ASHRAE Simple?
is it taking hc as a constant?

I could only find the McAdams Calculation method in the User guide.

And which method out of these 2 is more accurate for a detail simulation?

Please advice.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

all of the calculation methods details are published in the user guides, access these via VE Help menu >> User Guides and see the Thermal >> Reference section.

Where they state 3rd party methodologies then this should be clearly stated but often for licences or costing reasons IES can't publish these standards as well.

Could IES please provide an update on this? All of the options are not identified in the user guide. Specifically, I can search the guide for "McAdams" and nothing shows up. Section 2.4.1 provides a brief description for 3/4 of the internal convection methods, but none of the external. And is the BS EN 15265 from 1004 or 2007?
