All Air Systes with Heating Only

Post by robc »

Hi

In apache systems, is it possible to specify that there is no cooling in systems such as Constant Volume Systems. The system will be a ventilation system with just a LTHW heater battery installed.

If the above is not possible is there another way to specify this?

Thanks

Hi,

If you are in UK regs Compliance then you must select the NCM System type that best describes the system you are modelling. The names give good clues but the NCM Modelling Guide also has some of the properties associated (it's good to understand their characteristics when used in the actual but also the impact they will have on the Notional Building system creation).

I think the SBEM User Guides also give some description of the systems in addition to this that might help. BRE also have on the NCM website some FAQs covering NCM System selection.

I don't have a list of which systems have Air Conditioning and which don't but if you use the NCM System Wizard in VE it will guide you by disabling the Cooling tab for the systems where this isn't applicable. You shouldn't override the System Wizard so to answer your question if a System type specifies air con/cooling there is no way to remove this and instead another system type should be selected which will give options for Natural or Mechanical ventilation but no forced cooling.

Hi Rob

If it is an air system that does heating only, your only option is the "Central heating with air distribution" NCM system type.

Systems are either defined as heating only or heating and cooling and they cannot be changed. If you check out table 10 of the NCM modelling Guide 2010 you can see the systems that have CHW pumping which indicates that system will cool as well as heat.
