Hi,
Should louvers be included when doing a Part L2 compliance model?
It appears the notional building doesn't make allowance for them. Is this mentioned in any documents?
Thanks
Ross

Hi Ross,
The Notional won't have any local shading, that's a feature that the actual building can benefit from. This is described in the NCM Modelling Guide, usually a good starting point for regs questions.

You mean ventilation supply / extract louvres?
I don't think there's a definitive answer to that anywhere, but I suspect the intention is for them to not be drawn into the Part L model but for their U-value to be included within the building average wall U-value calculation. I very much doubt that ever happens though.

NCM Modelling Guide 2010 Pagagraph 30:
"Smoke vents and other ventilation openings such as intake and discharge grills must be disregarded in the Actual, Notional and Reference buildings, and their area substituted by the relevant opaque fabric (ie. immediately surrounding roof or wall)."
