Where does VE hide the elevator loads?

Post by MatthewSteen »

In the VE 2016 PRM navigator there's a place to assign elevator loads to the models. I have set the number of elevators to zero and am using the default SPACE: Elevators - Equipment values for loads. I have checked that the baseline and proposed models Tabular Room Data Internal Gains are the same. However, the PRM Report shows that the annual energy and demand is not equal. I had previously used the PRM elevator assignment by setting the number of elevators equal to the design, so I'm wondering if VE hides these loads in a seemingly random room like it does for exterior lighting, which is assigned to the last one.

I believe it assigns the load to whichever rooms you have assigned under the Elevator/Equipment space category.

You're correct, thanks.

I'm also experiencing what appears to be a bug in the 2016.0.1.0 PRM navigator. If the user enters an elevator load using the Elevator tool for the baseline and proposed models, runs a PRM simulation, then changes the elevator loads, only the baseline elevator results will actually change despite the changes showing up in the Tabular Room Data for both.

The workaround seems to be to change the Gain # Input Mode from Btu/h from template to W/ft2 and then back for the PRM sim results to actually change. I'll create a separate post for this.
