Simulation weather data clarification

Post by agoyal »

I'm having trouble getting to the bottom of how the weather files are used in IES. There is the design weather data tab. I believe this data is used for the outdoor design conditions when doing Apache load calcs? So what exactly is the simulation weather data used for? It it only for the solar gain/shading analysis?

it's used for the apache simulation.

Quite simple:
Design day data (peak values for 1 day in month) for loads/sizing & climate file for simulation.

The FWT/EPW weather files have data for each hour of each day of the year. The simulation interpolates the nearest values to get the climate conditions at the point in time it is doing the simulation for.

Clear?

Hi there,
Could anyone please tell me what if, the country I'm designing for, is not available for design weather data? I do have the simulation epw file for it but when setting up location and design weather to be aquired, it provides me with a neighbouring country's options. Shall pick any suitable one? could I just do it manually? any suggestions please? Thanks :)
