I would like to import a construction template from a different project to the one I am currently working on.
Using the Building Template Manager I have attempted to import the construction file from the different project, but I can only find the initial default constructions and none of the ones I had created specifically for the project. The new constructions were used in seperate simulations and I beleived that I had saved these as I created them.
Is there a specific method of saving of the constructions that I'm overlooking?
thank you

I asked the design team to include this,
feedback@iesve.com
Talk to them about it and maybe they will include it in their next release

Re: How do I import construction templates
Hi,
I have found a 'work around' that allows constructions to be transferred between projects.
If you go into the building templates manager, then import a thermal template from the project with the constructions in.
I find this will copy across all the constructions and profiles as well as the template itself.
Frustratingly I find it brings in too much information and makes a bit of a mess.
I am not sure if this is really an intended feature in IES, but it can save time.

What file do you import?
What is the extension?
I find when I have tried this it has duplicated all the entries and had over 600 entries which is more than IES can handle. ie mess

Re: How do I import construction templates
Yes, when you import a template from another project it brings in a lot of associated thermal data and this includes Constructions. It's an all or nothing deal though so use carefully.
In BTM (traditional, not tabular) click on the Import Templates button
browse to the other project and select the *.mtd file
choose a thermal template and then 'copy to project'
There are great advances in this kind of thing just around the corner, watch out for the next major VE update.

Excellent,
That is great to hear Phil, Give the dev team a pat on the back, as I will thoroughly use any new template improvement features.
