BREEAM 2011 HEA 03 Credit

Hi,

Does anybody have any experience justifying the BREEAM 2011 thermal comfort credit?

The BREEAM 2011 technical manual states that:

the TOR metric (%) is reported, via the BREEAM scoring and reporting tool

However the scoring and reporting tool requires a single value to represent the whole building in both summer and winter conditions.

How is this calculated?

I assume they mean for you to simply type within the 'Assessor Comments / Notes' explaining which TOR metric has been used, e.g. CIBSE Guide A, no more than 1% of occupied hours greater than 28°C.

I note from BREEAM for air conned buildings that they reference Table 1.5 Guide A. Those temps are 'Operative' temps. Not air temps or resultant temps. operative temperature is a different thing altogether.

It would be nice if the IES temp range report did not state exactly 24°C as >24°C. Ive had too many showdowns with these officious people whereby ive had to produce reports showing them, in addition to the previous ones, that although it says >24°C its means its =>24°C. Plus Table 1.5 offers no bandwidth. Good luck trying to flat line control a VRF system to 24°C resultant or operative.

I am just thankful that the profiles tool in IES is so powerfully useful.
