Crashing when working in ModelIT

Version: VE 2017 (2018.1.0.0)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: Crashing when working in ModelIT.
Detail: Some users have experienced repeated crashing when using ModelIT.
Workaround: Change to Basic rendering mode (ModelIT menu >> Rendering mode >> Basic)
Will be fixed for: Not set


Label not displayed when advanced rendering is set

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.1.0)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: Label not displayed when advanced rendering is set
Detail: When rendering settings are sent to advanced mode (ModelIT toolbar >> Rendering) labels are not displayed
Workaround: Change rendering settings to Basic (ModelIT toolbar >> Rendering >> Basic)
Will be fixed for: Not set


Assessor name not updating

Version: VE 2018 (2018.2.0.0)
Module: VE Compliance
Summary: Assessor name not showing in EPC or XML files required for lodgement
Detail: For Part L2 2013 England the assessor name entered in Set Building & System Data is not feeding through to the EPC input file
Fixed in: VE 2019 Hotfix 1 - Released Thursday 11th July 2019


SBEM location Swindon not available for selection

Version: VE 2018 (2018.2.0.0)
Module: VE Compliance
Summary: For SBEM Compliance the location Swindon can not be selected
Detail: The location Swindon is not available for selection for SBEM Compliance simulations.
Fixed in: VE 2019 Hotfix 1 - Released Thursday 11th July 2019



Materials are being assigned incorrectly as “:int” rather than “:ext”.

Module: Radiance
Summary: Materials are being assigned incorrectly as “:int” rather than “:ext”
Detail: When viewing a generated the image the colours will not appear as assigned by the user. This is due to some materials being assigned incorrectly as “:int” rather than “:ext”.
Workaround: Users can attempt setting both the “floor” and “ceiling” materials to the “floor” values (i.e. the lower reflectance values).
Fixed in: VE 2019 - Released Tuesday 2nd July 2019



Floor & Ceiling surface property labels are switched upon upgrade

Version: VE 2018 (2018.2.0.0)
Module: Radiance
Summary: Upgrading a file to VE 2018 Fp2 the surface property labels are swapped but the values aren't
Detail: When you first upgrade a file to VE 2018 Feature pack 2 you will find the values entered in surface properties for floor and ceiling have swapped around.
Workaround: Swapping the numbers back will make it as it was prior to upgrade
Fixed in: VE 2019 - Released Tuesday 2nd July 2019


Shading file does not match model error

Version: VE 2018 (2018.2.0.0)
Module: Suncast
Summary: Shading file does not match model error when free standing PV's are present
Detail: When loading solar shading results the error "Shading file does not match model" occurs when free standing PV are in the model.
Workaround: Turn faster calcs off via Tools - Preferences - Simulation tab
Fixed in: VE 2019 - Released Tuesday 2nd July 2019


BRUKL HVAC System Performance table incorrect

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.0.0)
Module: VE Compliance
Summary: Software is swapping columns when reporting systems to BRUKL HVAC System Performance table.
Detail: The BRUKL HVAC Systems Performance table is reporting incorrectly. When a zone has "none" set as the heating and cooling system the table still reports a heating and cooling energy consumption for that room.
Fixed in: VE 2019 - Released Tuesday 2nd July 2019


Crash changing space sub type for single space models

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.1.0)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: Crash changing space sub type for single space models
Detail: For single room models, changing the space sub type can cause the VE to crash.
Workaround: Add another room before changing space types
Fixed in: VE 2018 Feature Pack 2 - Released Wednesday 1st May 2019


Rooms appear flat when imported from Sketchup

Version: VE 2018 (2018.1.0.0)
Module: SketchUp Plugin
Summary: Rooms appear flat when imported from Sketchup
Detail: Imports from SketchUp into VE2018 have not height and the walls are missing.
Workaround: Users should use the BIM Navigator to import the vexml file from the SketchUp file location veexport folder. Run the plug-in to identify rooms and launch VE as usual so that the vexml file is generated.

Detail: There are missing profiles in VE Compliance for certain building types.
Workaround: Contact IES technical support.

Part L2 2013 Reference Building Auxiliary Energy does not include Extract fans

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.0.0)
Module: VE Compliance
Summary: Reference Building Auxiliary Energy calculation not correct if Actual Building includes Extract fans
Detail: When Actual Building room includes an extract fan then the Reference building auxiliary energy calculation should include for an additional fan power consumption as added in Part L2 2013 NCM Modelling Guide. This is not currently included in the Reference Building calculation in Apache.

Potential and Comparative rating not written out when a negative value is entered

Summary: Potential and Comparative rating not written out when a negative value is entered
Detail: When a negative number is entered for the Potential asset rating (Set Building & System data >> Building Details tab) it is written out as -7777.
Workaround: No workaround. User needs to enter a positive number

Crash running sDA calc on internal zone/zone with no windows

Detail: When an internal room or room with no windows is selected for sDA analysis the VE will crash
Workaround: No workaround

Adding glazing via the right click menu does not add glazing to north face

Summary: Adding glazing via the right click menu does not add glazing to north face
Detail: Glazing is not added to the north face of the model when assigned via the right click menu
Workaround: Assign via "Edit glazing, doors and louvres" window

Detail: When modelling in advanced rendering mode the dimensions are not shown on the screen

Sensor placement units incorrect

Results by floor area divisor not giving correct result when using ft2 (IP units)

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.0.0)
Module: VistaPro
Summary: Results by floor area divisor not giving correct result when using ft2 (IP units)
Detail: Results by floor area is using wrong divisor when in IP units (square feet) e.g. room is 150 sqft, Peak sens heating load is 357 btu/h
Reported peak sens heating load per floor area is shown as 276 btu/h/sqft but should be 2.38
Workaround: No workaround

Error when running an Apache Simulation with an upgraded HVAC System

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.0.0)
Module: Apache HVAC
Summary: Error when running an Apache Simulation with an upgraded HVAC System
Detail: When running an Apache Simulation with an upgraded HVAC System with certain components, a proportional controller simulation failure can occur.
Workaround: Simply opening each room unit in the system and then ok to close each (without making any edit) will reset the room link in the proportional control to a valid entry and allow simulation to run

Section 6 - No Notional PV

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.0.0)
Module: VE Compliance - Section 6
Summary: No PV is applied to the notional building for section 6 simulations.
Detail: No PV is applied to the notional building for section 6 simulations. This is incorrect as the regulations state the notional building should include an element of PV. (VE 2017 did this correctly)
Workaround: No workaround, update software to VE 2018 Hotfix 1

Crash after 'Invalid space after partition' error

Version: VE 2018 (2018.0.0.0)
Module: ModelIT
Summary: Crash after 'Invalid space after partition' error
Detail: Partitioning a zone can result in false 'Invalid space after partition' errors. The VE will often crash after this error appears, whether the partition is valid or not.
Workaround: Using the "tidy" key-in before partitioning seems to avoid this problem

Weather files missing from shared content installer

Detail: The default EPW weather files for the preset locations are not included in the shared content installer.

Detail: NECB workflow actions related ot heating degree day can't be performed when user has chosen an .epw weather file as the sim weather file in ApLocate
