Design weather data?

Post by electromechanics »

Hi all,

I am working on a MSc project aimed at quantifying the amount of energy required to heat public schools in the Peruvian Andes region. I am quite new to IES and would like help with the following problem.

The locations I am working with are not covered by any of the default design weather data source and statistics databases in IES. I have purchased TMY3 weather data for the cities I am working with, but I do not know the correct method to attain design temperatures etc from thees files.

How does IES use the design weather data, and will I have to calculate thees values for each of the 12 cities I am working with?

You can get the information by interrogating the simulation weather file using Vista to get the Max & Min Dry Bulb Temperature. More information on creating Custom Design Weather files can be found in the ApLocate user guide.
