Can not identify room

Post by Stephanie »

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie to this plugin and probably the problem I am facing is rather simple, but I can not find any answers in the tutorials or the internet and as I am writting my thesis I really would appreciate your help as soon as possible as my deadline is coming! :)

I have a one room model that has a rather complicated facade as it is made out of translucent and opaque panels attached to each other. First when I tried to identify the room it found 339 rooms where none of them was the actual room, they all were parts of the facade. The question is how can I make the model identify the facade in a way that it is part of the room so it will identify it? I tried groupping the elements but I am probably doing it in a wrong way. And when I click to find the disconnected surfaces it looks like the whole room seems to be disconnected although there is the facade.

Please help!!!

Thank you!!!

It sounds like you might be modelling the facade with a thickness so the plug-in is seeing it as separate rooms rather than as a wall of a room?

Have you seen the modelling White Paper http://www.iesve.com/support/knowledgebase/faq/3050

or if you look on the Warehouse there are some sample models to show how you should be modelling in SketchUp for the plug-in to correctly identify rooms. Go to the SketchUp Warehouse and search for IESVE to see these.
