CONSTRUCTION WOES - CREATING CONSTRUCTION LIBRARY

Post by ubaka »

Hi I am having a serious dilemma with IES 2013, I am trying to create a construction library as well as a thermal template library rather than importing from other projects. There are numerous reasons why this can be beneficial, we can organise it and have a source for pulling information when building models. Another issue is that whenever I pull in construction materials using the MTD file, I am not able to select which materials I want to copy over unlike with the thermal templates, it pulls with it every construction materials and if the project was used to run a Part L analysis I cannot delete them. Any Issue on this would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using VE 2013 then there is a very useful new feature called Master Templates that allows you to import individual constructions. You can find this option from the Tools > Master Templates menu.

Image

Select the Master Templates File you need (.tpl file, you will need to export this from an existing project Tools > Master Template> Master Template Export)

Image

On the import options screen select Advanced.

If you want to import construction templates then you can select them here, select Next to move on.

Select the individual constructions you wish to import and select Next

Select Start to confirm

When complete select Finish

Hi, Thanks for this, it worked perfectly. Just for others who may use this you have to export the construction data base from an existing project before you follow the process below.
