Editing NCM Profiles

Post by burly »

Hi all,

I am doing a BER (Building Energy Rating) using the VE-Compliance module for Part L-Republic of Ireland for a Primary Healthcare Building.

under the option of 'click her to assign building templates' I have the option of either creating my own profiles or importing NCM profiles. I want to import NCM profiles for primary care centres, and then edit them particularly the lighting information and air exchanges.

When I import the templates, there is one called 'PrmHlthCare: Circulation area' which is editable. However there is another one called 'NCM PrmHlthCare: Circulation area' which is not editable.

The problem I have is that when I select a room in the model, the only options I have in the scroll menu are profiles beginning with the prefix 'NCM:...'. (See screenshot) which are not editable.

How do I assign the editable templates to my model and also check that these have been assigned correctly?

Hi,

Have you had any training with us on the UK Regs Compliance part of the software? The interface and compliance model in VE is covered as part of our training sessions.

Basically when you use the interface to set Building Type, Room Type and Room Activity the software automatically handles all the NCM data an assigns the NCM templates to your model.

There are some values that are under user control and can be overridden but not really via thermal template (except systems, I think those are picked up from thermal template that is assigned) so I would advise just to work within the VE Compliance interface to assign the data. You are using an older version so to edit single rooms its Room Data and to edit multiple then use Edit Group Attributes. In later versions of VE then Tabular Room Data is the way to go.

Never try to edit the NCM data directly in the templates, you should always make a copy of the NCM data if you want to use it for your own (Real Building) work. The software tries to protect this data as much as possible so you will see they are often not available for edit or to assign.
