If you make no changes at al between running the Suncast shading calc and starting the sim then this message shouldn't be appearing but could be caused by geometry errors (see previous comments).

If you are making changes such as rotating the model, changing orientation then you do need to go and recalculate the SunCast first.

If the problem persists and you have no reported geometry errors then post back or Private Message me and I'll contact you to get a hold of the project so we can request a developer to take a look and explain this.

Solar energy analysis showing no energy on surfaces

Hi Guys,

This might be something simple, but I have nun a number of solar analysis on my model without any problems, however, after making a small change in ModilIT a problem has developed (don't think I made any other changes). The simulation runs as normal, but when it loads in Model Viewer II no energy contours is displayed on surfaces. E.g. my model is all blue which corresponds to 0kWh/m^2. Is this something go to do with old files? My simulation range was a full year and display range is a full year.

hmm runt he geometry check report and look for intersections or errors of that nature in the geometry, this repeated error clearly isn't logical so something may be more fundamentally wrong and it's usually on geometry.

As a general pint, the shading files are calculated and stored in the project SunCast folder. If anyone ever really needs to reset this to correct an error such as this then try deleting all files form this folder, then open the project and calculate the SunCast shading again and I've found before this can sort things out by starting over. Bit of a pain but it does work in extreme circumstances.
