I've just thought of a little work around to get your absence detection back if you upgrade. If the room no longer allows you to put it as its greater than 30m2, you can make up the difference by changing the lighting diversity.

So set the room up as presence detection which allows you to account for parasitic power etc.

However this only gives an Foc factor of 0.9 and we are looking for 0.82. So set the diversity of the lighting to 0.82/0.9 = 0.911111..

You then get exactly the same result as you would have done with absence detection.

For Part L 2010, the notional building will also be correct as there are no occupancy controls. I'm not sure you can make a case for this in the new regs.

You could do something similar using a dimming profile. I guess if anyone is going to pick up that sort of workaround then it would be in an EPC audit.

I suppose in essence you're going against the NCM guidance* so are therefore not allowed to do it...

*not the NCM Modelling Guide, but subsequent advice given. Though that advice has never officially been given to the energy assessors but just the software developers so...
