Possible to use ODBC to link IES VE and Revit?

Hi!
With Autodesk Revit 2011 you can export a *.rvt file to MS Access or a SQL-server with the Revit RDB Link. Is it possible to import and export information from a database to IES VE? My point is that this would be a much better way to obtain interoperability between Revit and IES VE. By working with a database, users could extract the information they need, edit it and upload it to the database. The changes would automatically be updated in other users models. This way you get a two way communication and the true meaning of BIM would be achieved- getting people to work better and more efficiently together.

In my opinion IFC and gbXML does not do the job, mainly because they're not object based.

Hi (nice pic),

I haven't seen this yet and to my knowledge no research has been done into this. I'll make sure we look into this in case it can improve our link to Revit.

In the meantime we will continue with the gbXML link and are currently working on further improvements to this so that the quality of model imported will be of an even higher quality.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I think there is a great potential in linking applications together through object based databases to obtain interoperability.

I'm really looking forward to see what you develop in this field.
