MacroFlo - Issue with volume flow

Hi

I am using the MacroFlo module for a naturally ventilated building.

When I try to see the Volume Flow in VistaPro Beta, I get the message ' There appears to be an issue with the MacroFlow Arrow Data on the surface 4'. Where Have I gone wrong?

Also, if I have a window which is closed all the time, is it right to assign the profile 'OFF continuously' for that window with openable area = 0%? Or have i got this part wrong?

Will appreciate any help on this issue.

Many Thanks

Hi,

This warning will be displayed when MacroFlo data has not been calculated for an opening. When Vista sees there are no results to report will alert you with this warning. In most cases this will be a complex room where you have connected a few subspaces together and we have found the opening it refers to can often be an internal hole.

First thing to check is that there are no underlying geometry issues which may be causing problems to the apache/macroflo calculations - do this in ModelIT by selecting the Settings menu >> Model then switch the intersections check on and click Check. Correct any geometry issues this raises.

Next if the issue is caused by a connected/composite space then you may need to separate this space and either run the sim with the spaces disconnected or redraw it as a single space if possible.

Hope this helps you,
Phil

Thanks for the info.

But what about how to set the opening always open or close, or how to assign a profile to an opening.. how to do that?

Again, if an opening is set to OFF continuously, what does that mean? is it open or close?

Appreciate your help..

Hello,

To set an opening to be open/closed then for the standard profiles...
OFF = Closed
ON = Open

You assign a profile by selecting it in the profile dropdown on the opening types window.

Have a wee read through the Profiles user guide as it goes through these things (if not directly mentioning MacroFlo).
Also MacroFlo and MacroFlo Opening Types user guides are relevent here.

We can also provide training in MacroFlo - simply contact training@iesve.com for more information.
