i am looking for a list of the file extensions used in IES so i know what i am working with and looking at with in the project folder. please let me know where i can find one.
i also received files from a co-worker and i am tryin to access them, but they were created in an older version of IES VE and the program does not allow me to access the files, " acess to..... was denined". what is the reason for this?
File Extensions
Re: File Extensions
Hi,
A typical <VE> project is constructed from many different files, *.mit being the man model file. You'll find most of the other project files are organised in the folder structure of a project (e.g. in the apache folder you will find a *.asd file containing apache systems data for that project).
You can open most of these files with notepad but I don't have a full list to hand of each file and what information it contains (they all make up a single project anyway and I wouldn't normally advise manual edits as it may just end up corrupting the project).
"access to...was denied" would suggest to me the files have been set to read only or you don't have permissions to use them. If you are reviewing files from a colleague (i trust you are looking at the entire project) they should use Save As in <VE> to move the file or send you an archive of the project and then make sure it is in an area where you have permissions to access/read and write the files.
Hope that helps some more,
Phil
