solar shdaing devices and loads

Post by bootsam »

How do you assess the affect of sun shading devices such as brie soliel? I have drawn some external shading ie the fins etc and wish to see the effect before and after applying the fins. I note that at the moment the fins do not seem to do anything to the loads. Am I missing the obvious?

(note i am a novice user of IES. Have moved up from Hevacomp)

Hi,
You can do the 'Solar Shading Calculation' using SunCast module.
The other lighting modules FlucsDL/Pro & Radiance.

Later on you can link the result of this calculation to ApacheSim to check their effects.

As you said , you are novice user for IES , I would suggest you to go for "IES Training" program.

Thanks & Regards ,

Suncast shading take very long time for calculating, more blind is much more time, so you can simply use parametric shading in glass material setting.

Sorry there's been a misunderstanding. My fault. I have built the model, drawn the local shading 'louvres'. Run a suncast and assessed the room loads. Now I want to 'switch off' the solar shading and assess the loads without the shading. To see how much the internal solar gain is reduced by the external shading. I guess i have to 'freeze' the shading, do another suncast and then check the loads. But I am not sure how i turn off the shading.
