Bug Slat an start up with all latest updates and no plugins

Hello,

I have posted on the plugin for Sketchup 8 and am looking at the workaround by using SU pro 7.0.4747 on win 7 32bit. downloded MSxml 6 just in case. Removed all plugins even the default ones, Ocean Examples and Utilities so I only have IESlink plugin ruby and the ies link folder. I have tried to load a .skp file by dc on the file but SU8 launches even if I alter the default program to the su7 folder. I guess this is a registry issue and I don't dabble in those black arts. I have V-ray plugin installed on SU8, which used to cause a problem with ies on su7. I have IES 6.2 loaded. I have even disabled vray on su8 incase of cross contamination but I still can't get it to work.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Just trying to work though this a bit:

1. SketchUp 7 doesn't have any plug-ins other than IESVE - when you launch skp7 by launching form Start >> programs does it bug splat?
2. Double clicking any skp file launches skp8 each time - I don't know how this works for skp or if you can alter this. I always launch the version of any software I want to use then use the File >> Open project option (I do this in <VE> or SketchUp and most other programs I use).
3. skp8 has V-ray plug-in - I would expect this will crash on startup if you have the IESVE plug-in and V-Ray plug-in installed together, we have experienced a clash between these in the past and no solution has been found.

Hi Again Phil,

Just reinstalled SketchUp 7 and it still crashes on start up. Might just give it a miss on this machine. Its a shame because as an experienced Sketchup user I can get far more out of the model using Sketchup. I find ModelIt a bit less friendly to use.

Thanks for the info on V-ray though, I dont want to give that one up.
