how to enter bi-valent systems

Can anyone tell me how to correctly enter bi-valent systems (eg gas plus biomass) into IES.
I assume that the approach is the same as for SBEM, ie calculate an effective efficiency for the two systems, based upon %load, efficiencies and emission factors for each system, as per the calc in the iSBEM manual (version 4.0 now does the calc for you). In which case, the fuel type must still be set to gas to ensure that the notional building is handled correctly.
An alternative approach would be to define a "bivalent" fuel type and effective emission factor based upon the %loads and emission factors for the two fuels and set this, but as the fuel tpye would not be set to gas, wouldn't this upset the notional calc ?
