Large amount of people in Simulex

Post by enricoron »

Hi Everybody,

I am currently trying to simulate a very complex building (9 floors with 85 staircases). I have drawn the geometry and calculated the default distance map. I have tried to test the simulation using a small amount of people (50) and everything seems to be ok. Whenever I try to add the real amount of people I am interested, simulex crashes (it already starts to crash with about 380 people).
Here there are the pc features:
OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit,
Processor Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz
Ram 4GB
Graphic card is an NVidia Quadro FX 770M

I see the typical window crash pop-up "Windows has encountered a problem that prevents proper operation of the program.." (it is in italian):

Could the problem be caused by the number of people? What is the maximum admitted number of people in Simulex?

Thank you in advance for your help,
Enrico

Dear Enrico,
I can not understand the error exactly as it is not in English. (Forgive me for that).

The maximum number of people that you add depends upon the memory your system have.
You need 100 bytes memory for every 1 square meter of distance map (so a single distance map of 1,000 m² = 1Mb in memory).

The other reason could be too many distance maps.Simulex allows you to create up to 10 different (route) distance maps in memory.

Hope this has been of some help.

If you still need some more information please don't hesitate to contact us. ;)
Thanks & Regards ,
