Double Skin Facade in simulation and realworld.

Post by huntervu28 »

Hi,

Is there someone has experience with DSF, I would like to compare the results between DSF calculation bulk air flow and DSF in CFD (or real world). Does the real DSF gives better effect than simulation in VE (separated DSF floor by floor, 15cm open at top and bottom ).

Then, how to integrate result from MicroFlo into ApacheSim to have better precision ?

Many thanks.

probably not worth it now after delay.... well done community BTW with me and Jo-F not being on for a while...

but what climate is this in - I think dry arid climates get less effect (okay we all saw that discovery channel show on the Burj tower with the cooling flow but... come on!).

Certainly sim programs in my limited, but very vocal, experience, temperate climate benefit (depending on seaon) on the solar and insular benefits slightly more than the cooling flow benefits of warmer climates. Shoving in some inter-shading makes things fun though.

Hang on - I don't really do much (any in all honesty other than providing a little graphics in the odd report) CFD - was answering thermally - akt well, I've been away for ages so nothing wrong with posting something while everyone else ignored you.

1) light touch paper
2) stand well back

Now I read your question again, esp the latter part, I'm not too sure how far you can go with this. I mean certainly you can take the DSF boundaries and see what's going on in the space in Microflo but then feeding back again... I think you might be stuck with iterative sims and manual interpretation of results.

Maybe the chaps at IES themselves have experience of this - you tried them? I know they have a couple of CFD specialists in-house that do pretty detailed work (although I've doubted the Microflo we see is the tool they use - must be an internal version we dont get).

time-wasting again,
Zap.
