Sketchup Plugin Issue

Hi all

I've been having trouble with my sketchup plugin ever since I was upgraded to VE Pro 6.2.0.1.

Initially the plugin would not load and gave the message 'need to install a copy of VE first' which I already had done and was working properly.

Our 'wonderful' IT department then took 2 months to try and sort things out. I thought they had cracked it at first but now I've noticed that after a save and a reopen of the sketchup model it's forgotten all the group, component and room assignments and then won't to find all the rooms in my model even though first time it did find them all and I set up all the room names and preferences.

Have our IT done something they shouldn't have or is something else a miss. I'm running sketchup plugin 6 V2. Do I need V3 for everything to settle down.

Many thanks

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

This sounds quite odd but I can't see how it could be anything your IT have done really.

Easier to break it down:
1. Is the plug-in now installed (does the IESVE toolbar appear in your SketchUp installation)?
If it appears and the buttons seem to function then I am confident the installation is correct.

2. Groups and Components lost after close and reopen the SketchUp model.
So you create a new project, group some surfaces, define the group as a room on the IES Select Groups button, save project, Identify Rooms and plug-in finds a room. You then save and close and next time you reopen the project in SketchUp the IESVE Select Groups dialog shows the Room/Group as "excluded"?

Try to detail the workflow you follow and what goes wrong and I'll be able to comment further.

There isn't a massive difference between the 6.2 and 6.3 plug-ins but if you can upgrade to 6.3 at some pint there are a few improvements in areas such as the room identification. We expect more improvements in the next plug-in release which should coincide with <VE> 6.3.1 at the end of March.
