Hi,
I have a model where on a single facade I have both a timber cladding and a brick cladding. I was previously told that I could model one of these as doors and apply the appropriate construction. However, when it comes to Part L, the notional building is built assuming that these are pedestrian doors set to a significantly lower u value. I'm assuming that I need to change this in order to get an accurate Part L analysis. How would you recommend doing this?

Varying external wall constructions
Re: Varying external wall constructions
Hi,
You can split the zone in ModelIT (use Divide Space) then Connect the two parts, this will result in the external walls being split into two parts that you can then define different constructions to (Select the room and go down the levels of decomposition until you have selected the surface you are interested in and then you can assign a Construction to this surface using the Assign Constructions in the usual way.
This way for Compliance the surface will be recognised as external walls so the notional will be built accordingly.
