unmatched adjacencies

Hi,

i get some unmatched adjacencies after creating the inner volume of my model (which didn't give any error before), how do I fix them? I don't totally understand the meaning of unmatched adjacencies. If I go to the adjacency level on the surfaces that apparently do not match and check the "adjacent room name" everything seems to be fine.

Thanks for any reply
Bets

Hi,

I've uploaded an Unmatched Adjacencies FAQ that might explain it a bit better for you, download it here http://upload.iesve.com/uploads/staff/2 ... encies.zip

To fix them we advise to use the ModelIT report to find these and then select each problematic room in turn, go down to surface level and use Edit Vertices to match up the end points with the adjacent room, this way ModelIt will recognise the correct areas on either side of the adjacency.

I haven't heard of this occurring after applying inner volumes and would suggest the issues existed before that, some times doing a rebuild can improve things or at worst if you have a lot of geometry issues redraw problem zones or export the model as a GEM file and import to a new project (this often corrects issues where vertice points don't quite line up).

This issue most commonly arises when users do not model to the Grid Points, if you stick to grid when drawing zones then you won't face problems where vertices are out by small fractions.

Hope this is useful for you and you can fix the model, I'm glad you are at least interested enough to try!

Phil

Thanks a lot for your reply, it is very useful.

Before reading your reply i thought it could have something do to with the adjacency separation distance. After a couple of unsuccessful tries, i set it to zero and that apparently solved the problems..but created external holes. I reset the adjacency separation distance to a value higher than zero and rebuilt the model, after that i didn't had any kind of geometry errors anymore. Hope it is now fixed for real and not only apparently.

Thanks again,
Bets

Alright, that wasn't a good idea: I get an error when running simulations now (can't cheat!). I fixed a backup file like you suggested and it seems like everything is working now. Thanks again
