heat pump

Post by kczyze »

Hello,

I have a problem with a heat pump. I don't see any difference in total energy consumption value in ApacheSim, when I tick hte heat pump in ApacheSystem after choosing Electricity as a fuel, or not. It seems it doesn't take it into account at all. Could you please give me an idea, what can be wrong?

It would be great, waiting for your answer,

Hi,

The Heat Pump checkbox on Apache Systems is only for VE Compliance. It affects the Notional building version of the system (is counted as one of the special LZCT "fuels"). Really it should be hidden outside VE Compliance but doesn't do any harm (other than confusing the user, sorry).

Thank you for your answer, so is there any way I can find out or calculate the profit from my heat pump in order to subtract it from the total energy value I will get from ApachSim?

Using the Apache systems you can represent the system by simply entering the system seasonal efficiencies and an auxiliary energy value to represent the system fans, pumps & controls energy. I'm not sure where you would obtain this data though.

You could use Apache HVAC, this way you can add a lot more detail to the analysis i.e. part load performance of the GSHP & model individual components associated with the system. With this approach there is obviously more work involved and you would require a certain level of expertise.
