Hi guys,

I am a newbie here and to IES, wondered if you could help out with a small problem, when I try to draw a basic prism or rectangle I click close to the origin and drag away but nothing appears, if I click in a second location the rectangle appears, the same applies to Prisms, if I star to invisbly draw the prism then hit the 'close perimeter' icon on the menu it magically appears also?

Any idea's I have tried it one a guys machine upstairs but it works fine there, tried opening the software again ...etc

How many points you defined before clicking "close.."?

Give it a try on a blank model and consider a square...

Start at the top left, click on the top-right then bottom right... so you have 3 points defined... now click "close"

It used to be in ModelIt you could only draw by click and drag but some users mouse settings (something to do with double click) was preventing them from drawing so now you have the option to click and drag or click once to define the start vertice and then click a second time to define the end (drawing a basic prism).

Yours sounds like it is drawing properly but you just can't see it, start by checking your User Preferences in VE (Tools menu >> Preferences), try switch off auto-highlighting and also have a look at your System Colours - try change your "Dimension text" colour here as this affects the shape as it's drawn on the workspace.

If that doesn't work have a look at your Windows theme settings, try reset this to the most basic/default options and see if this makes it any better.
