Yep, we're working towards utilising multicore processors for all VE analyses (Suncast calcs, Flucs, Apache simulations). No idea when this will be ready but we'll be sure to let you all know.

Yeah, right now im splitting my models up, to actually be able to work on the models while im at work (just a student helper).

And we only have 1 license, so i can't even open another model on my computer while it simulates. Is there any way to change this, without buying multiple license?

no there's no way to avoid that I'm afraid, it's the licences doing their job.

Only advice I have is take a look at the batch tool for your simulations and you could run different analyses at the same time so e.g. start off a simulation on one session of VE with SunCast switched off then start another VE session using SunCast and do a solar shading calc for another model (use the ticks on Licence Control to avoid locking licences you don't need). Obviously this would only help you occasionally.

Beyond that then just run on the fastest machine available and try to run sims at night so results are ready for you the next day. Sadly iterative studies are going to be the most painful for you

Well, most of the time i work once or twice a week, and im keeping the models at a size so the 2 min step calculation only takes 30 min, so i will survive. How come the license is so it only works with 1 open file? Many other programs you can use the same program multiple times (dont know if this is because of multiple licenses). But since the company pays quite a lot of money for the programs, i think its sad that it actually limits my use of time.
The only task i have at my work is to do IES simulations of a hospital with different variations and such, so sometimes its really like im just wasting my time because i have to wait for the computer to run the model.

The licence is locked to the instance of VE rather than the machine/user. Like I say if you wanted to run a sim and work on another model in ModelIT at same time then use licence control to stop ModelIt being locked out when you run the sim, that way you can start another VE and switch on ModelIT to work while the sim is running. You could do this with any VE applications/licences.

Are you also able to use the program on multiple computers then? Just my coworkers use my computer when im not here and they have to use IES.

if you only have a standalone desktop licence then they would have to run VE on your machine when you're not in but if you purchased a network licence then you could install VE On multiple machines and whoever needs to use it each day just accesses the licence.
