Hi

I am trying to model by using Google sketch up plug in
My question is can I dived my modeling into each building floor
Let say start with first floor then draw and run the second floor ?

But how can I then add them later all together in IES VE ?

Thanks

You can do this very easily , but you have to take care of few things like intersections & non-planar surfaces.

I will explain you in detail. ;)

Draw the first floor in sketchUp & export it to VE.
Once you have successfully exported to VE create a GEM file of it.
Now draw the second floor but this time you have to draw on certain height , say your first floor is of 3 meter height base 0, now the second floor should start from 3 meter as base plane. Export the second floor to VE & create GEM file for 2nd floor.
Likewise you can create GEM file for each floor. Once you are done with all the GEM files , import all the GEM files in one single model & your model is done.

VERY IMPORTANT : YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE THAT THERE SHOULD NOT BE INTERSECTION WHILE IMPORTING THE MODEL TO <VE>.

I hope this has been of some help.

Thanks for your respond

and in same time your answer my question in my mind about the height level that i have to draw it for the next floor

but can you explain to me more what you mean of
VERY IMPORTANT : YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE THAT THERE SHOULD NOT BE INTERSECTION WHILE IMPORTING THE MODEL TO .

Thank you

Hi ,
I have created a small video for it which will explain you the "Intersection" issue. (I am not good at creating videos but I am sure that , it will be beneficial for you.) ;)

It seems like you are new to IES<VE> world , if so , then I would strongly recommend you to go for IES<VE> Training program.
These training session are conducted by IES<VE> Experts, you can get information from our website.

Here is a link to download video:
