Hello

I would like to know if the apache building manager takes into account the reduced solar through a sunscreen when the sun isn't shining at the azimut of 0. I want to use a window called MicroShade, and the company gives the different g-values for all the solar heights and azimuts, and i want to know if i can just type in those (i know i have to calculate so the window together with the blind gives the correct g-value) for azimut at 0 and the IES gives approximately the same values.

another customer asked a similar question about a year ago and here is the response, you may find it useful I'm not sure.

There is no way to explicitly model this type of glazing within the VE. However I think you could still get a reasonable result by running a matrix of simulations & post-processing the results.
What I would recommend is that you run 12 simulations (1 for every month of the year), for each simulation use the average G-value for that particular time of year, for example during the month of December the average G-value maybe 0.36 & for the month of June the G-value maybe 0.2. Once you have all your results it's simply a case of pulling them out of VISTA & attaching them all together in excel.
I believe this approach will give you a reasonable result. Of course if you had lots of time on your hands you could run more simulations based on morning, midday & evening sun positions for each month, this of course would increase your work load by x 3.
