Dear support team
My question is , during the process of identifying the room in SketchUpâ„¢ plug-in
Some time I close the program then want to continues later
But when I re open the file the program ask me again to re identifying the room
Is there is no option to continuous identifying the room without waiting this long process?

Thank you

Hi ,
If you read the message box properly , it states "Preserve Room name ?" , that means , the plugin is asking you , "I am going to identify the rooms again , do you want me to preserve the room names or shall I give another room names of idenitified room'.

Mainly , this is for saving your work , once you identify the room , you get a window "VE Room Properties" where , you can change the room names.

I hope this has been of some help. ;)

Hi Shaikha,

I think I understand what you mean, when you close the model the next time you open it you have to identify rooms again. The development team have been looking for a way to improve this and hopefully we'll have an update later this year. In the meantime I'd suggest you work on your model so that the time to identify rooms is as short as possible (well drawn models that use room groups properly can should only take 5 - 10 mins to identify all rooms).

Sorry if this is causing you some inconvenience

Phil

My problem is the model to run take almost 2 hours ?

Is there is no possible way to divid the model ito different floor?
The model only three floors

But almost 60 or 70 rooms n each floors

Thanks

ah ok, this is what I was hinting at in my previous note.

If you select each floor as a Group (in SketchUp select all rooms on the floor and then choose Group from right click menu) you can use the IESVE plug-in toolbar Select Groups button to identify each group as "Room(whole)" (make sure all the rooms in each Group are completely enclosed floor, walls and ceiling). Then you can chooose to work on each Group separately (just set the one you are interested in to "Room(whole)" and the others to "excluded".

If you Group effectively you will find it should take less than two hours to identify as well as allowing you to work on each floor individually.

The White Paper and User Guide should give you some extra guidance and it might be worth your while to experiment with this a bit to see how it works before returning to your project.

Thanks Phils for respond

That what I am going
Selecting group for each floor
And the process is take two hours
When I am doing it for each floor Into separate file
Its take app 35 min
So its take to much time to run and identfyingin rooms

And I am sure all rooms are closed boundary

Am really worries about it because its take from me to much time

I'd suggest you break it down further then. When troubleshooting a model for Support I usually follow a process similar to this

- break model down into floors, Group each floor and run identify rooms on each to see which one(s) take a long time
- when the problematic floors are identified I then hide the rest and explode the floor, look through for any obvious areas where lines do not form closed loops, delete lines that have extra vertices (can complicate things)
- then on this floor I try to Group blocks of rooms - you can Group them any way you want depending on the form of the floorplan - run identify rooms on each block of rooms to identify which rooms are still causing problems.
- when you find the problematic rooms, try redrawing just these rooms to see if you can fix them.

Remember after you have identified rooms the right click menu options in the IES plug-in can be used to highlight areas where the model has issues preventing rooms from being found.
