Results: proposed x baseline

Post by luanaepb »

Hi,

I'm using the PRM navigator and I've noticed something interesting on it.

I've simulated the proposed model, with very simple geometrical carachteristics, with exactly the same carachteristics (physical, systems, etc) as the 0° baseline model.

What I've noticed is that the results, in therms of loads and consequently of sizing, do not match. They vary more or less 10%.

Do you have an idea of why do this happens?

Thank you.

Hi

First thing I'd check is whether you are actually feeding in the same data or not or just think you are.

Easiest thing to do is to compare the input files that fire into apache. Use a text comparison program to look at the DER (don't know what the letters stand for "DE"fined "R"ooms would be my guess) in the apache sub directory and you'll soon see any differences.

A couple of download options for you might be
WinMerge: http://download.cnet.com/WinMerge/3000- ... 86887.html

KDiff3: http://kdiff3.sourceforge.net/

Or if you have money and want what seems to be the daddy:
Beyond Compare: http://download.cnet.com/Beyond-Compare ... 15731.html

Now I'll bang in my disclaimer - I have no ties to any of these tools and accept no liability or responsibility for their download/use/problems... just pointing you to some file comparison tools... you can do your own homework and chose which ones you like.
