Surface reflectance and lighting energy use

Hi
I am trying to increase the effectiveness of daylighting in a space by increasing internal surface reflectance. I was hoping that I could do this in Radiance, increase the amount of light hitting the sensors and decrease the need for electric lighting at certain times of the day. I have changed the surface reflectances in Radiance but it makes no difference to the light hitting the sensors or energy usage in Apache.
Can Radiance simulate this? If so how do I set it up? or how else can I test this?
I am very new to this, so sorry if this is a daft question...
Thanks
McM
